We want your readers to finish your book. And buy the next one.
Magic Bookmark is a spoiler-free companion for people who read books. It helps readers remember characters, relationships, places and what’s happened so far, while being very careful not to spoil anything they haven’t reached yet.
Get in touch →Magic Bookmark is handcrafted for people who care about books more than technology.
We love books with big stories. But sometimes keeping track of them is hard.
What did I read three days ago? Who was that character again? How is she related to the person mentioned a hundred and fifty pages back? In an attention-starved world, the details can slip away, and make sticking with a book a challenge.
Magic Bookmark is not a replacement for reading. We want it to help people get more immersed in books. We want them to finish more books and to buy and read the next one too.
Maybe you’re feeling skeptical. That’s totally fair, so please don’t just take our word for it. Try Magic Bookmark with a book you’re reading, and you’ll see what we mean.

The reader scans the page they’re on.
They open the app and snap a photo of the page they’re on. That tells Magic Bookmark exactly how far they’ve read.
They get caught up on what they’ve read.
A recap of the story so far: who everyone is, what just happened, why it mattered.
They keep reading.
Once they’re caught up, they put the phone down and pick up where they left off.
Magic Bookmark works best with a copy of the book in hand.
“I bookmarked Taipei Story by R.F. Kuang. I started reading on Kindle, but got excited using Magic Bookmark and ordered a hardcover copy as well.”
We never replace the book.
Magic Bookmark isn’t trying to replace reading, or summarize books so nobody has to read them. The recaps are written for someone reading along, and make very little sense to anyone who isn’t.
We never spoil it.
Everything Magic Bookmark shows a reader stops at the page they’re on, so nothing ahead of them is given away.
But please don’t take our word on this. Try it for yourself!
“I honestly can’t imagine reading another book without this companion. Magic Bookmark gives you smart, spoiler-free recaps, great insights into the characters and events, and just the right context to help you remember what has happened so far.”
“Perfect for that one book you wanted to come back to after a couple of years, but didn’t want to reread from the beginning.”
“Sometimes my mind wanders when I read, so this app is so useful in helping me remember what I just read!”
“I especially love being able to see the cast and characters so I can keep track of who is who while I’m reading. It makes following a story so much easier.”
good questions
Do I need to do anything?+
No. There’s nothing to sign up for and nothing to manage.
Does it cost me anything?+
No. It works just like the bookmarks sold at a local bookstore: readers buy your book, and then pay for a bookmark.
Does it replace reading my book?+
No. Magic Bookmark is designed from the ground up for people reading the book. A session usually starts with the reader scanning the page they’re on, and everything the companion does is built around where they are in their copy.
Will it spoil my book?+
No. It only covers what the reader has already read.
Which books are supported?+
We didn’t take any shortcuts in building the product, and adding each book is a pretty intensive process, so we’re very selective about the books supported in Magic Bookmark. We launched with several hundred, focused on long narrative genres: fiction, sci-fi, historical fiction, fantasy and romantasy, and mystery.
How can I see what it’s like?+
Try it. Download Magic Bookmark, scan a page of a book you’re reading, and read the recap. Then imagine reading that recap without the book. We think that will tell you more than anything on this page.
Can I have my books removed?+
Send us an email requesting removal, and we’ll take it from there!
Who’s behind this?+
Magic Bookmark was built by Yaron Galai and Amit Elisha. Yaron founded Outbrain, which went public on Nasdaq, and Quigo, acquired by AOL. Amit led product at both, and was Chief Product Officer at ActiveFence. They’ve spent twenty years building things for publishers and readers. They also both own more books than shelf space, and both know the specific feeling of picking one up after two weeks and having no idea who anyone is.
If you write books, we’d like to talk to you.
We’d love to talk, learn and make this as great as it can be for authors like you!
